Testing for zinc is really simple. All you need is muriatic acid (can be purchased from a home
improvement store and is very cheap) a glass dropper and a glass container to place the item you want to
test. Have safety gloves to keep the acid off your hands just in case. I would recommend wearing long
pants and sleeves just in case some acid splashes on you. Have clean water handy if you need to wash
off your hand from the acid and to place the tested item in after. When testing for zinc you need to do it
outside that is important. Need plenty of ventilation. Now you have your glass plate or bowl the item
you want to test your acid and the dropper. Fill your dropper with acid and drop a few drops of the acid on
the item if its zinc or zinc coated you will see lot of bubbling action. This is a chemical reaction that
indicates the presence of zinc. If an item is safe nothing will happen at all. After you have done the test
dump the item you tested into the clean water you have for just in case. Make sure you use safety with
cleaning up and putting away the acid. Now you have a simple test that will tell the tell.
